Portable Storage

Other moving alternatives such as moving vans, moving services, and traditional self-storage units do not offer the convenience that our on-demand portable storage units afford. Whether your residence is in Alcona County or your business is in Wexford County, our storage cube solutions may well be the best alternative to meet your needs.

We deliver our portable storage units to your location directly, on your schedule. There, you can take as little time as you require or desire to fill the unit with your belongings. The portable unit can remain there indefinitely, be moved to its destination, or stored in our secure facility. Convenience is our aim in meeting all your moving and storage needs.

On selecting a Michigan County above, you will find either the American Portable Mini-Storage™ subsidiaries serving that area or some information about authorized agent opportunities if they still exist in that specific county. American Portable Mini Storage™ is a dynamic and fast-growing company with the intent and desire to serve all areas of the United States.

Packing Tips

Most of us don't move our belongings often enough to be experts. With this in mind, American Portable's moving consultation experts have created this guide to assist you in making the best use of the space available and your time.

First and foremost, planning is essential. Take a little time to look at the items you will be moving. Many find it helpful to list each item (or at least the major ones) on a piece of paper with measurements, (height, width, depth) and approximate weight. Performing this step prior to ordering your portable storage unit will help ensure the correct size is ordered.

Before the move:

  • If possible, plan to use as many perishable food items as possible.
  • Consider a yard sale or garage sale to eliminate as many useless items as you can.
  • If there are items you've been thinking of giving to the kids, now might be a good time.
  • Make note of items requiring special handling so arrangements can be made. (i.e. pets, plants, food, valuable items (whether fiscally or sentimentally), fragile items, medicines, important documents.
  • Inventory your items. This will help in the planning, as mentioned above, and can also be important in the event of loss to provide to your insurance company.
  • Acquire packing supplies. (boxes, tape, packing peanuts, newspaper, markers for labeling boxes, blankets to protect furniture)
  • Assemble tools. (screwdrivers to remove table legs, hammers to disassemble bed frames, etc.)

Packing:

  • Place heavier items under lighter ones.
  • Don't over-pack boxes.
  • Use packing peanuts/newspapers liberally to protect fragile items.
  • Label all boxes with the room they will be moved to.
  • Try to keep each box under fifty pounds or so.
  • Clearly mark boxes with fragile items or especially heavy boxes.

Filling your portable mini storage unit:

  • Start with the long, slim items. (table legs, bed frames, headboards) Place these along either wall.
  • The largest, bulkiest items should go in next. (dressers, chests, armoires, china cabinets, etc.)
  • Fill in with boxes, heaviest first.

Safety First:

  • Lift with your legs, never with your back. If you are unsure about your physical capabilities, consult your physician first.

Customer Satisfation

We hope that using these tips will help make your moving or temporary or long-term storage as trouble-free and painless as possible. American Portable Mini Storage™ has a longstanding commitment to customer satisfaction. Our units are delivered on demand, to your location; no fuss, no muss, no hassle.
