Get the Hassle Out
Let American Portable Mini Storage take the hassle out of moving in New Windsor, Maryland. Our team of expert delivery technicians can place a unit so close to your garage you can load the American Portable Storage Unit in the rain. Our units are placed at ground level so walking in and out of them is a breeze. Then just go online or call us to schedule your pick up. We will deliver your unit to your new home or office.
Our customers demand a portable mini storage unit on a time schedule they can rely on. Our proprietary internet web based software uses unique delivery resource management to track every delivery. We strive to be where we say we are going to be, when we say we are going to be there. Our computer system is so advanced that it knows how many delivery trucks an American Portable Mini Storage Agency has. It knows how many drivers that agency has. It knows how many and what type units are available in that particular Agency’s inventory. Our computer system is so intelligent it even knows how long it should take to get from our Agency’s headquarters to your driveway in New Windsor. Now that is smart! Why did we spend so much time, money and manpower to build such an elaborate computer web based software? Because being on time is so important to us. We know your life if busy. We want to do our part to make it a little easier.
American Portable Mini Storage has developed a specialized system to keep your Maryland storage unit level while loading and unloading the storage unit off of our delivery trucks. We know that the best way to keep your belongings just as you packed them is to keep them level. Other companies use a truck with a tilting bed and drag their storage units up onto their trucks. What happens many times as a result is your belongings settle, shift and sometimes even fall over. We have consulted with moving industry professionals around the country and everyone we have ever spoken with has agreed that tilting the storage unit to load it is not a good idea. The movers we have consulted with have admitted even they would find it more difficult to load a storage container they knew was going to be tilted to load. We developed our system to keep your belongings as stable as we can. Keep it simple and keep it level. Protect your belongings to the best of our ability.
Our American Portable Mini Storage unit was developed to keep Mother Nature at bay. Our unique design starts with an industry leading roof. Our roof membrane has been used on thousands of Recreational Vehicles for years and years. The storage unit’s one piece roof design gives you the peace of mind to know that we have tried to think of everything to keep your belongings as safe as possible. Our units themselves are wood framed with similar framing techniques to most custom homes in America. This provides for excellent rigidity while in transport from place to place. Our floor systems starts with Huber’s Advantech subfloor plywood and finish with all materials that touch the ground being completely pressure treated to resist decay. We have taken great care to construct a storage unit that we feel exceeds any other in the industry.

Think of our storage unit as the length and width a midsized car and you should be fine. Our storage containers have been designed to fit in a standard sized parking spot.
Your belongings are more likely to arrive safely when wrapped well and placed in appropriately sized and shaped boxes. Whenever possible, pack items like small appliances, stereo equipment and electronics in the original packaging. Plastic Totes that seal up tight are always a great idea when packing small items. Avoid putting paper and the like into storage without being in a container as high humidity levels can damage them.
Start by placing a small stack of paper on your table or counter. Glasses and jars should be rolled in two or three sheets of paper. Fold the paper from the corner, rolling and tucking the sides as you go. Where the corners come together, secure with tape if possible. When in doubt, use more paper for protection.
Before packing each box or plastic tote, pad the bottom with a few inches of packing peanuts, wadded-up newspaper or old pillows, towels and blankets. Pack heavier items first on the bottom and lighter, more fragile items on top.
As each layer is packed, firmly fill empty spaces with wadded-up newspaper or spare paper. Then add newspaper or cardboard as a level base for the next layer. Be sure no sharp points, edges or rims are left uncovered. These items can puncture through to another layer.
Don't overload boxes; limit carton weight to about 50 pounds or less based on your strength. You don’t want to make it too difficult to lift your boxes. Strive for a firm pack that will prevent items from shifting. Tape boxes securely.
Label in each box. List if the contents are fragile. Label containers with what room the belongings go in.
Mattresses and upholstered furniture should be completely bagged when possible.
Never store or move family heirlooms and irreplaceable objects with anyone but yourself.
